Sepang, Malaysia, June 17: The GT300 class reached another milestone at the Sepang round, when not one but both of the new Honda CR-Z machines, fielded by two different teams, ended up locking out the front row of the grid in a dominant display in qualifying. On the grid, the #55 ARTA entry led the #16 MUGEN car off the line.
A quicker pit stop saw the #16 get ahead before a major fightback by ARTA driver Takashi Kobayashi, who turned an eight-second deficit to his advantage just thirteen laps from the flag. He stayed in front to score his first SUPER GT victory, with the other CR-Z duly taking second. In third, winners of the season-opener, the #11 Gainer Dixcel Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3 kept its spot at the head of the Driver's standings.
