Toyota Takes Control Ahead of 500km Event at Fuji
Shizuoka, April 28: This season's opening round in SUPER GT at Okayama may have been all about Nissan and Honda, but when the most popular spectator sport in the country visited Fuji Speedway over the Golden Week holidays, it was Toyota that asserted itself as a pair of the world's largest volume car maker's SC430s locked out the front row on the grid for the 500km race the following day.
In GT300, the SUBARU BRZ R&D SPORT snatched pole position in a nail-biting performance that went down to the very last moments of the session, the iconic blue machine narrowly edging out the pair of machines from Honda, the MUGEN CR-Z GT and ARTA CR-Z GT, in a clean sweep of JAF-GT spec cars among the top three finishers in qualifying for the following day's 500km race.
