Lexus Locks Out Fuji 500km SUPER GT Event
Shizuoka, April 29: Round 2 of the 2013 SUPER GT was a runaway success for Toyota's Lexus brand as no fewer than a quartet of its SC430 machines took the top four places in the GT500 class after 110 closely-fought laps round the famous circuit located at the base of Mt. Fuji. Rival manufacturers Nissan and Honda could fare no better than fifth (CALSONIC IMPUL GT-R) and seventh (Round 1 winners, RAYBRIG HSV-010 GT), respectively. For race winners Kazuki Nakajima and Briton James Rossiter, it was the pair's first victory in the series' GT500 class.
The GT300 class saw another success for the auto giant when its Toyota-branded Panasonic apr PRIUS GT took its (and a hybrid machine's) first-ever win in the category. As a potential sign of things to come, 2nd place on the winners' podium went to another hybrid vehicle, Honda's MUGEN CR-Z GT, which narrowly beat the best of the FIA GT3-spec machines, the Crystal Croco Lamborghini Gallardo GT3 in third.
